International Section Diversity Policy
The International Section is committed to diversity in its
membership, officers, Executive Committee, Chapters, and Committees. Diversity
is an inclusive concept, encompassing gender, race, color, ethnic origin,
national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age and disability.
In applying this policy, the International Section expects that
its leaders, including Committee and Chapter Chairs, will actively seek to
achieve diversity in all their activities including in seeking members for the
Executive Committee, other Committees and Chapters, in selecting speakers for
panels and continuing legal education programs, in soliciting contributions to
the Section’s publications, and in collaborating with other sections and
minority and specialty bar associations to pursue diversity initiatives. The
Section is grateful for and celebrates the geographic and national origin
diversity that its many Chapters outside the United States bring to the Section
and, in addition, seeks to promote diversity within each of these
Chapters.
We endorse the statement of the Association as applied to our
Section that we are a richer and more effective Section because of diversity, as
it increases our Section’s strengths, capabilities and adaptability. Through
increased diversity, our Section can more effectively address societal and
member needs with the varied perspectives, experiences, knowledge, information
and understanding inherent in a diverse membership.
