Public Utility Law Committee

Historically, the Public Utility Law Committee has focused on review of laws pertaining to public utilities, both substantive and procedural, with particular reference to the methods, processes and extent of legal control exercised by law administering agencies other than courts, and the methods, processes and extent of review exercised by courts over such agencies in addition to the power to consider proposed legislation relating to the subjects above-mentioned; and consideration of proposals pending before federal or state departments, agencies or officers for the promulgation of administrative rules or regulations governing administrative procedure.

Previously a standing committee of the New York State Bar Association, the Business Law Section welcomed the Public Utility Law Committee as its tenth substantive subcommittee in September 2008.
