The Class Action Committee focuses on a wide range of issues relating to antitrust class action litigation, including class certification, procedural issues, substantive claims, and damages issues. The Committee hosts educational lectures, CLEs and periodic meetings that offer its members the opportunity to stay up to date on the latest developments and hot topics in the field of antitrust class action law.
The Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee is a new Section Committee of the Antitrust Law Section that will cover a broad range of issues stemming from cartel and other types of criminal investigations conducted by the Department of Justice Antitrust Division (DOJ) and enforcement authorities in other jurisdictions. These include jurisdictional issues, the genesis and nature of cartel investigations, leniency policies and practices, ethical and privilege issues, criminal procedure, pretrial and trial practice, and sentencing issues for companies and individuals. The Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee is currently soliciting new members to work on programming and other projects.
The Coordinated Conduct Committee is a new Committee of the NYSBA Antitrust Law Section. The Committee will cover a range of legal developments relating to both horizontal and vertical anticompetitive conduct. The Committee will hold informational panels, including CLE panels, and periodic meetings to discuss new developments in the law. The Committee is currently welcoming new members.
The Mergers Committee focuses on competition issues arising in domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. The Committee provides a forum to discuss recent antitrust developments and trends concerning M&A activities through breakfast programs and an annual summer program featuring experienced private practitioners and enforcers, as well as other initiatives. The Committee also provides opportunities for member networking.
The Unilateral Conduct Committee focuses on various types of dominant firm conduct and keeps the Section membership informed on recent developments in this ever-changing and complex area of antitrust law. We encourage active member participation through numerous opportunities ranging from drafting case digests and analytical thought-pieces to providing CLE programs where leading economists and practitioners discuss interesting and topical ideas. We also encourage members to share their ideas during periodic Committee meetings (in-person for those who can make it or by telephone), which also provide terrific networking opportunities.
