The mission of the
Publicity, Privacy & Media Committee is to discuss, analyze and present
programs relating to the Right of Publicity and related torts involving the
commercial appropriation of peoples’ names, likenesses, identities and
personas. The committee also plans to
encourage new members to join the Committee and to hold telephonic or in-person
meetings on at least a quarterly basis. These meetings will include presentations and discussions of important
developments in this area including new claims, judicial decisions, discussion
of the international aspects of the Rights of Publicity and privacy and
legislative developments. The committee also plans to create a mechanism
whereby committee members and others can post case decisions and other
materials related to this topic.
