Committee to Review Judicial Nominations

COMMITTEE TO REVIEW JUDICIAL NOMINATIONS
STATED PURPOSE

The Committee to Review Judicial Nominations shall consist of no fewer than eleven nor more than fifteen members, with representatives thereon from each of the several judicial districts.  The committee shall endeavor, within guidelines established by the House of Delegates, to secure the nomination, election or appointment of competent and properly qualified candidates for judicial office, and to prevent the nomination, election or appointment of unfit candidates.  It may confer on these subjects with other bar associations and federations, nominating conventions or committees, and political organizations, and in case of candidates for appointment, with the public officer in whom the power of appointment is vested.  It may be convened at any time by its chair or by the president, and shall have power to adopt such resolutions and take such steps as it may deem necessary to effect its purpose.
