David H. Tennant
of Rochester is vice-president of the 7th Judicial
District. He leads his firm’s appellate litigation team, co-chairs its Indian
law and gaming team, and maintains a varied civil litigation practice with a
focus on Indian law, appeals and complex commercial litigation.
Previously, Tennant was an
assistant U.S. attorney in the Criminal Division of the
U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California
(Los Angeles) and clerked in federal district court in Los Angeles.
He serves on the State Bar’s
Finance, Membership, and Publications committees and on the Committee on Courts
of Appellate Jurisdiction. He co-chairs the Task Force on Gun Violence.
He is a past chair of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section and of the
Section Delegates Caucus within the House of Delegates.
Tennant has written multiple
publications and been a speaker on many State Bar panels, principally in the
areas of appeals and ethics. He obtained degrees from the University of
Michigan and UCLA Law School (Order of the Coif).
